Some things are made to be lingered over. Velvet Orchard was shaped slowly by hand in our Viennese studio, stem by stem, over a quiet afternoon. Feathery lilac sprays, soft bunny tails, olive hydrangea and blush-pink fern come together in the colours of late-autumn orchards: ripe plum, dusky heather and a whisper of sage. Four rustic lilac candles wait at its centre, one for each Sunday of Advent.

It's for the long, candlelit evenings: the first cup of tea when it's already dark outside, the slow Sunday mornings, the gentle countdown to Christmas. And because every flower has been carefully dried and preserved, it isn't over when the season is. Once the last candle has burned, lift them out and hang Velvet Orchard on your wall or door, where it will keep you company through winter. Tucked away dry and dark, it will come back to your table for two or three more Advents.

Caring for your wreath

Between seasons, wrap it loosely and store it somewhere dry and dark, such as a box in the wardrobe. Keep it away from steam, damp and bright sunlight so the colours stay soft for longer. To freshen it up, blow away any dust with a hairdryer on its coolest setting.

A gentle reminder

Dried flowers and open flames need a watchful eye. Never leave burning candles alone, keep the blooms away from the flame, and change the candles before they burn down to the holder.
