slowing down in Mallorca - 3 of my favorite things to do

by Yasmin

Mallorca holds a special place in my heart. I’ve visited this sun-kissed island so many times over the years, and every time, it gently reminds me to slow down, breathe deeply, and just *be*. There’s so much to share — too much for one post, really — so I thought I’d begin with three little rituals I keep coming back to. These are moments I treasure, and I hope they’ll bring you just as much joy.

1. Coffee & Wandering in Palma

I always start my Palma mornings at Fika Farina — a cozy spot that combines Scandi calm with Mallorcan sunshine. Their *Bollo de Cardamomo* is something else — warm, soft, with just the right hint of spice. I grab a coffee, sit for a while, and then head into the old streets to wander without a plan. Palma has this wonderful way of revealing its charm when you’re not looking for anything in particular. I recommend avoiding the busier summer months (July to September) — it’s much easier to fall into that dreamy Mediterranean rhythm when the streets are quieter.

2. Market Saturdays in Santanyí

There’s something magical about the Saturday market in Santanyí. I go early, weave through the stalls, and let my senses lead the way. The scent of sun-dried tomatoes, the bright citrus glow of fresh mandarins and oranges, crusty loaves of bread wrapped in paper... it’s a feast before you’ve even eaten. If you want to take the moment even further, pack up your market treasures and drive down to Cala d’es Llombards. It’s a small cove with colorful fisherman doors tucked into the cliffs. Settle down for a picnic, dip your toes in the sea, and watch the sky soften into sunset. Just a small note — like Palma, this spot is best avoided in peak summer due to crowds and limited parking.

3. A Stroll Through Alcúdia

Alcúdia is the oldest town on the island, and it wears its history so gracefully. I love spending a few quiet hours there, wandering through its tiny streets lined with blooming pots and charming shutters. There’s something romantic about getting a little lost. If you climb up to the old wall, you’ll be rewarded with a lovely view of the terracotta rooftops below. And when your feet need a break? Stop by *Verdeteja* for a *café con leche* and a slice of cake. It’s one of those spots where time seems to pause — in the best way.

There’s still so much more I want to share from this island — but for now, I hope this inspires a slow, meaningful day in Mallorca. If you end up visiting one of these places, send me a message or tag me — I’d love to know what little moments spoke to you most.

With love,

Yasmin
